Man United are said to have eyes on AS Monaco defender, Axel Disasi.
From a fan perspective, Manchester united seem petty well-stocked in the centre-back position. The Old Trafford club have Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane as the main duo, with Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire backing up.
Erik ten Hag seemingly thinks otherwise. A move for Kim Min-jae was heavily talked up earlier on in the window. Axel Disasi was also linked with a potential Reds switch.
It does seem like Ten Hag isn’t quite giving up on signing a new centre-half at this stage. Once again, the Frenchman who plies his trade for AS Monaco is being linked.
It’s Fabrizio Romano with the latest information. He took to Twitter yesterday, to confirm that United are ‘exploring’ a deal to sign the 25-year-old, though they’ll face competition from Newcastle United. No bids have been made as of yet.
According to Romano, Newcastle are expected to make contact with AS Monaco, while they’ve already approached the player.
Ten Hag has ‘approved’ of Disasi, while talks have been ongoing with the player for ‘weeks’. The Reds are yet to make an official approach to AS Monaco.
Disasi feels like a signing to replace an outbound player. Harry Maguire’s head could possibly be on the chopping block during this window, particularly as he continues to fall out of favour.
There’s talk that Maguire could be stripped of the captaincy in the not-too-distant future, which could also lean towards the Englishman potentially moving on in search of regular minutes elsewhere.
Unless a sale happens, I genuinely do not see United allocating a large chunk of their transfer budget to bringing in a new centre-half.
