Man United are closing in on a deal to sign Andre Onana, with an agreement expected to be done by Thursday at the latest.
David de Gea has now officially left Manchester United. He’d confirm his departure over the weekend, along with heartfelt social media post to the fans.
Now, the search for his successor truly begins. Andre Onana has been heavily linked with filling the void. A deal for the man from Cameroon would make sense.
Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter last night to share his latest information on the brewing saga. He went pretty bold, claiming it’s ‘Andre Onana week’ for the Red Devils.
Negotiations are set to continue, with the ‘final round’ in order to submit an official bid and get the deal done.
Sources ‘expect’ an agreement for United to sign the player will be done by Thursday at the latest, possibly as early as Wednesday.
There’s no issue on personal terms, with those already agreed last week.
Now, it’s just down to the two clubs to agree upon a fee. Then, this transfer looks almost certain to happen.
A move to acquire Onana would completely transform the way United will play. They’d finally have a keeper who is comfortable with the ball at feet, which is massive in the modern-day game. You look at Manchester City and Liverpool. Both have been sublime since signing Ederson and Alisson respectively.
Onana would hopefully offer similar for the Red Devils. Better play from the keeper would lead to more possession, which should directly translate to more chances created.
Yes, this would not be cheap, but it’s the right move at this juncture. It’s nice to see United acting like a big club again and trying to push moves through early on in the transfer market.
