Man United retain an interest in PSG attacking midfielder, Xavi Simons.
Manchester United have made one midfield signing in the form of Mason Mount this summer. The Englishman, who had some excellent seasons for Chelsea, decided change was necessary.
Erik ten Hag is also overseeing major changes within that Old Trafford dressing room. Many assumed only one central player would be signed this summer, though that may not be the case as the links to midfielders continue.
Perhaps the club are putting a contingency plan in place, in the event that they lose Fred or Scott McTominay.
It’s journalist Loic Tanzi with the latest information. He claims United are still showing an interest in Xavi Simons, despite his recent move back to PSG.
He took to Twitter to share the latest information, claiming that United are among the ‘serious suitors’ to sign the 20-year-old attacking midfielder despite that recent move.
RB Leipzig are said to be ‘well ahead’ in the race right now, though do not rule the Red Devils out at this stage.
It seems odd that PSG have made the decision to re-sign Simons, as they seemingly are looking to flip the Dutchman for a profit. Be it by sanctioning a loan move with a future fee in place, or an outright sale.
These situations are pretty rare in football, though Simons’ talent also doesn’t come around very often. The attacking midfielder has a super bright future within the game, so it’s easy to see why United are keen.
The problem I have here is that Simons may find minutes hard to come by. He’s not going to displace Bruno Fernandes from the starting line-up anytime soon, with the Portugal international looking set to become the new club captain.
As of right now, I still maintain the belief that a new striker has to be atop the priority list.
