Man United seem to have reached an agreement with Marcus Rashford, who is all set to sign a new deal.
We’ve been here before with these Marcus Rashford contract stories. In fact, it feels like a bit of a running theme over the last year or so. The Englishman’s future has been up in the air, though the general consensus has always been that he’ll sign and stay, eventually…
Well, the usually reliable The Athletic have provided us with some massive news. It comes from none other than David Ornstein, who has been bang on the money when it comes to United news over the last few years.
He writes that the key United star is ‘set to sign’ a new five-year deal at the club, after reaching an agreement in principle.
The 25-year-old has been in talks with United for a ‘considerable period’, ahead of his current deal ending next summer.
Any uncertainty about Rashford’s future is set to be ‘banished’, with talks over a deal that’ll run until 2028 now in it’s final stages.
According to the story, Rashford has turned down ‘more lucrative’ proposals from both in the Premier League and Europe, to stay at United, where he wants to win major trophies with his boyhood side.
It goes without saying, this is major news for United. Rashford was the main man when it comes to goal output last season and we should fully expect him to be up there again next season.
This is a player who flourished under Ten Hag during the Dutchman’s debut season as manager. You’d hope that he’d continue to learn and grow as a player over the next few years.
Hopefully, the deal is signed and sealed before the season kicks off.
