Alex Telles has all-but-sealed a Man United exit, with the Red Devils receiving a £4m fee for the left-back.
Manchester United Football Club are moving in a positive direction. With each passing day, Erik ten Hag is having a super influence on this club – both on and off the pitch.
Players are being signed. Others are being sold. Alex Telles is about to fall into the latter category.
The Brazil international spent last term on loan at Sevilla, after being deemed surplus to requirements by Ten Hag upon his arrival at Old Trafford twelve months ago.
It’s fair to say Telles never lived up to the hype in Manchester. Now, he’s all set to be sold on a permanent basis, per Fabrizio Romano.
According to the Italian, United will receive a £4m fixed fee plus add-ons for the left-sided defender. Interestingly, Telles will earn a bump in pay with this move to Al Nassr. He’s now earning well over £100k-a-week.
For United, this is another player off the books, who hasn’t been playing on a regular basis. I understand the frustration with the small transfer fee, but what else should we expect?
Telles cost about £12m, is a few years older and doesn’t look anywhere near as good as the initial hype suggested he would be. He was never going to fetch a huge transfer fee.
This is another step in the right direction. Tyrell Malacia, although currently injured, is now no longer looking over his shoulder at Telles. It could also mean more minutes for the young Alvaro Fernandez, if Ten Hag is ready to give the young Spaniard his big opportunity.
Hopefully, United confirm this deal soon so everyone can move on.
