Kyle Walker ‘is already causing trouble at Bayern Munich’ – with Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer not offered the same terms as Man City star
- Kyle Walker’s possible move to Bayern Munich has reportedly caused problems
- Existing players Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller are frustrated at Walker’s deal
- They’re all older than 30, but the Man City star looks set to get favourable terms
Some of Bayern Munich‘s older players have expressed their dissatisfaction at Kyle Walker’s deal – despite the Man City defender not even signing terms yet.
Walker, 33, has reportedly reached an agreement to swap Manchester for Munich in a £15m move – but it has still yet to be finalised.
With the defender absent from Man City’s Champions League final starting XI – and Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel a long-time fan of Walker – it could be a promising move – but it has already stirred controversy amongst some players in the German giants’ dressing room.
According to Bild, players like Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer are upset that Walker is getting favourable terms despite being over the age of 30.
Walker is set to get a two-year deal, plus a one-year extension option. This has broken a long-standing rule where older players are only given 12-month contracts.

It has frustrated Bayern’s Manuel Neuer (L) and Thomas Muller, who have deals until 2024

Muller, 33, and Neuer, 37, both had the topic as a major issue during their own negotiations, with both signed up to Bayern until 2024 – but no longer than that. Meanwhile, Walker is set to be tied to the club until 2025 – and potentially 2026.
It is thought to be a bone of contention amongst Walker’s potential new teammates, as they cannot see why the rules are different for an incoming player of a similar age in comparison to those who have served the club for many years.
Muller came through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich, and has played for the senior side since 2008 – but he could not negotiate a year’s extension to his new deal at the Allianz Arena.
Similarly, Germany national team goalkeeper Neuer cannot secure a long-term future at Bayern Munich, despite holding fort between the sticks for the Bundesliga giants since 2011.
Walker has reportedly told Pep Guardiola that he wants to leave Manchester City, where he has just one year left on his current deal.
Man City also hold an interest in Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard, which could come into play if a trade deal can be struck between the two European giants.
The trouble he has stirred up at Bayern means that he will have to hit the ground running to be popular among his new teammates in Germany.
During six years at the Etihad, Walker has won five Premier League titles as well as the 2023 edition of the Champions League.
