Man United are now ready to make their formal bid for Rasmus Hojlund.
Manchester United deserve credit for identifying and acquiring a midfielder and goalkeeper so quickly. Both Mason Mount and Andre Onana are through the door, though one big need remains; a striker.
Rasmus Hojlund is the name most heavily linked with filling that void recently. The Dane, 20, enjoyed an excellent season for Atalanta in Serie A, with United among the sides taking note.
We Red Devils fans have been treated to multiple updates a day on the Hojlund front, which leads us to believe there’s real credibility behind the claims.
Now, the Daily Mail has provided their latest information. According to their sources, United are ‘poised’ to open the ‘formal bidding’ to sign the striker, as the Reds look to bolster their attack.
It does look like the Harry Kane ship has sailed, while Kylian Mbappe will not be coming in, either.
Hojlund, albeit so young, looks to have all the tools to perform at a high level in a Ten Hag team. Right now, the two clubs haven’t been in formal discussions about the move as no official bid has been made despite prior reports.
However, with Onana now signed and sealed, you’d expect this transfer to start to pick up in pace.
United will want Hojlund in sooner rather than later for obvious reasons. He’ll need time to settle into his new surroundings, particularly as he’s so young.
In an ideal world, Hojlund will play in at least a couple of pre-season games in order to start to get to know these teammates, though it does seem to be progressing pretty slowly at this point.
