Anthony Elanga has said his heartfelt goodbyes to Man United and their fans upon his departure.
Manchester United Football Club seem to be improving in many aspects over the last twelve months. Credit must go to the whole club for that.
The Red Devils have made a couple of excellent signings, though on the flip side of that, some players simply have to leave by way of balancing the books and keeping the dressing room from being overcrowded.
One man who definitely faced an uncertain future heading into this season was Anthony Elanga. He played his fair share of minutes when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge, though Erik ten Hag chose to move in a different direction.
Now, the Swede’s exit has been confirmed. He’s off to Nottingham Forest in a £15m deal that bolsters United’s transfer funds, while the Premier League side are getting a cracking player.
Upon his exit, the 21-year-old United starlet sent an emotional message to United and their fans, paying particular homage to their ‘Rhythm is a Dancer’ chant they had for Elanga. A classy touch from the winger.
Honestly, the timing felt right. I never like seeing academy lads leave the club, but Elanga wasn’t playing enough and he was always going to demand more.
As soon as a very decent transfer fee came in for him, it felt inevitable that he was going to depart. The talent is obviously there and I fully believe Elanga will be a huge success at Forest.
It will hurt seeing him succeed away from United, though we have to be happy and thankful for the service Elanga gave us (as long as he doesn’t score winners against us!).
All the best, Anthony.
