Man United are in talks to sell potentially both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
Manchester United Football Club are doing all the right things under Erik ten Hag, despite the fact that ownership of the side remains up in the air.
The Old Trafford squad is evolving and adapting of late, with new faces added, while others are being sold to fund more incoming business.
Anthony Elanga was the latest to depart yesterday, while the futures of others remain up in the air.
Now, West Ham United have shown an interest in signing both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
It’s Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth with the latest information. He took to Twitter to confirm that United have ‘held initial talks’ with West Ham over the potential sale of the pair of first-teamers.
However, it will not be easy for The Hammers to make these moves happen. United see them as ‘very important’ members of the squad. On top of that, it would require ‘very big bids’ for the Reds to even consider a sale.
Honestly, I can see the logic behind United’s stance. Although Maguire and McTominay are no longer regular starters, they’re very important squad players in case of injuries.
It’s a tricky situation for Maguire in particular. He’s recently been stripped of the captain’s armband and he may want to depart in search of more playing time elsewhere. Though he’ll only leave on United’s terms.
The same goes for McTominay. He’s still showed glimpses of his capabilities and if he does leave, he’ll be a massively important player for West Ham United.
In the end, I do believe both will stay as I don’t see West Ham coughing up big money to sign either.
