Scott McTominay required work on a knee injury after the game against Real Madrid on Wednesday evening…
Manchester United were pretty poor against Real Madrid last night, with the Red Devils struggling for any sort of rhythm.
Sure, in pre-season games, you make plenty of substitutions which can disrupt the flow, though on Wednesday evening, that wasn’t the case. Even the starters looked a little off the pace.
The loss was compounded by injury. We all knew about Kobbie Mainoo’s problem as it happened so early. However, he was not the only one to go down.
The Manchester Evening News’ Tyrone Marshall spotted Scott McTominay struggling at full-time.
Apparently, the 26-year-old United star suffered a knee injury, which required treatment as the game drew to a close. Marshall states that the problem ‘could have repercussions’ during this transfer window, depending on the severity of the problem.
McTominay has been linked with a move away, as West Ham looks to bolster their midfield options. However, if this problem is a serious one, that interest could abruptly end.
The Scotland international has been a big part of this United squad over the last few years. I still believe he’s good enough to play a bit-part role, though if the right offer comes in, it could be tough to turn that down.
As things stand, it’s too early to say how serious this problem is. I don’t think we’ll hear anything until the pre-match presser for the Borussia Dortmund game at the very earliest. However, McTominay is the third player to suffer a problem during pre-season, following Amad and the aforementioned Mainoo.
Get well soon, Scott!
