Anthony Martial will stay at Man United this season, with no firm interest in the Frenchman.
Manchester United are looking to offload many players this summer, though so far, it’s proving difficult. Erik ten Hag is working with many footballers who are on overly-excessive wages, meaning buying clubs do not want to match those weekly earnings.
The gaffer is in a tricky spot, though he’s still trying to move away from players like Fred, Donny van de Beek and more.
However, one man who’ll remain a Red Devil beyond this summer is Anthony Martial. The Frenchman struggled for both form and consistency last season, while injuries absolutely didn’t help.
Now, ESPN believe the United star is ‘set to stay’ at the club this summer, due to a lack of interest. The Red Devils seemingly wanted to move away from the AS Monaco man, though that will no longer happen.
Martial is now back in training after an injury suffered at the back end of last season, though he’s still not match fit after that problem.
The Frenchman, albeit obviously talented, is just struggling at Old Trafford. He’s not alone in that regard. His personal problems are what led to the signing of Rasmus Hojlund, as Ten Hag has not been able to rely on Martial at all.
The verdict
Sadly, it’s looking like the same old story this time around. No pre-season means he’s entering into the Premier League campaign completely short on match sharpness. It will take him many weeks to get fully up to speed – assuming he can stay off the treatment table.
Even with Hojlund, United have a serious issue up front if Martial has another injury-ridden campaign. That’s a lot of pressure on the shoulders of the young man.
