Man United could move on from both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay in a double deal.
Manchester United Football Club are in the middle of a huge summer transfer window. While it’s true that three quality signings have been made, the Reds will have to let some leave in order to balance the books.
Among those up for grabs, assuming the price is right, is both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. The Old Trafford side would allow the first-team duo to leave, though both would need replacing.
The BBC have provided the latest information on that front, with claims that United are now ‘open’ to a double deal with West Ham for both Maguire and McTominay. According to the report, the club are eyeing a swoop to sign both Reds players.
The Hammers are yet to make a single signing this summer, despite selling Declan Rice in a huge-money deal to Arsenal.
Whether West Ham can reach an agreement with United for a move to sign either (or both) player, is ‘open to question’.
It’s understood United would be ‘open’ to a move, though it’s reiterated that both men would need replacing if they were to depart.
The verdict
The price would have to be right. You’d imagine the Reds would want at least £30m per player. Perhaps more in McTominay’s case due to his age.
Whether West Ham United, or any other buyer, would be prepared to pay that much remains to be seen. After all, these are two players who have struggled for any sort of form, particularly over the last twelve months.
West Ham will have to act quickly as United will want to replace these guys before the transfer window slams shut. There’s surely a point where things start happening too late and United flat out refuse to sell due to time winding down in the window.
