Harry Maguire is seemingly open to the idea of switching Man United for West Ham United this summer.
Manchester United have plenty of players who are currently in footballing purgatory at Old Trafford. There are several faces who Erik ten Hag would like to move away from, while the footballers themselves wouldn’t be against a new challenge elsewhere.
The Red Devils are looking to generate funds via player sales, in order for the gaffer to strengthen the playing squad further during this summer window.
One man whose future remains up in the air is Harry Maguire. We all know the Englishman had the captaincy taken off him, while his minutes have drastically reduced over the last twelve months.
Right now, it feels like a move away is best for all involved. According to The Independent, Maguire has indicated that he’d be ‘keen’ on a potential Premier League transfer to West Ham, if a fee can be agreed.
Apparently, West Ham United have made a £30m bid for the Englishman, with the Reds ‘ready’ to offload the centre-back.
West Ham will not cover his £190,000-a-week wages, though it’s hoped the two clubs can come to an agreement over his salary.
The player himself is ready for a ‘fresh challenge and is ‘excited’ by the prospect of a move to play under David Moyes. A main factor behind that is a lack of playing time, that could threaten his chances at featuring for England at next summer’s EURO 2024.
The verdict
A deal should happen. We believe a deal will happen, eventually. They’ll be plenty of haggling over transfer fees and wages, though I reckon it will get done.
Hopefully, it’ll be complete in plenty of time, allowing United to go out there and sign a replacement centre-half.
