Man United are set for further talks with Nottingham Forest over the proposed sale of Dean Henderson.
Manchester United have a new number-one goalkeeper in the form of Andre Onana. David de Gea has left, while there were whispers Dean Henderson may have been given his opportunity. That’s, obviously, no longer going to happen.
The English shot-stopper has immense ability. There’s no denying that. However, he’s found chances limited at Old Trafford, while injuries haven’t helped his case over the last few years, either.
Henderson has made no secret of the fact that he wants to leave the club on a permanent basis over the last few months. You can’t blame him as he simply hasn’t been playing. Nottingham Forest have been keen after a positive loan spell with the club last season.
Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest information on that front. Despite everything going quiet, due to Forest now looking at Matt Turner as their new shot-stopper, a Henderson move may still happen.
It’s claimed United and Forest will ‘speak again’ over the possible sale of the wantaway star, though there’s still ‘no agreement’ in place.
This feels like a good move for everyone. Henderson needs the regular football, while United could get a decent transfer fee for the Englishman.
The hope is that this deal will happen sooner rather than later, as it’d bolster the transfer funds available to Ten Hag as he looks to strengthen the playing squad.
Even if it’s around the £15-20m mark, that could prove to be the difference between United signing another midfielder, or going into the season with the current crop of players they have now.
