Man United have welcomed Anthony Martial back to full training ahead of the Wolves game on Monday.
Manchester United are now racing towards their first meaningful game of the season. The Red Devils host Wolverhampton Wanderers in front of the Old Trafford Faithful this coming Monday.
Erik ten Hag will be keen to get off to a flying start, particularly after early-season struggles during his debut campaign as manager.
The mixed pre-season leaves us all wondering just how the 2023/24 campaign is going to go. However, a convincing victory here would be the perfect way to settle the nerves.
Ahead of the match, ManUtd.com have provided an update on the situation of the squad, including Anthony Martial.
The Frenchman had no pre-season whatsoever due to a problem that plagued him from the back end of last campaign. Evidently, that issue was worse than first-feared as he’s missed the whole summer and every single friendly.
Now, United have been given the timely injury boost, with the 27-year-old back in ‘full training’ ahead of the Wolves season opener.
Martial’s status for this clash will remain up in the air. Obviously, he hasn’t played any football whatsoever for multiple months, so I doubt we’ll see him feature this coming Monday.
Ten Hag is big on not playing footballers who aren’t up to match sharpness, hence why I’m pretty sure he will not even be among the substitutes.
This is a huge year for Martial. Time and patience is running out for the ex-AS Monaco striker. The club need to be given real quality product from him this year if there’s any way he remains a Red Devil beyond this season.
Will he do it? I’m not so sure.
