Man United could have hit a stumbling block in their pursuit of Benjamin Pavard.
Manchester United interest in signing Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard seems to be ramping up. The Frenchman is out of favour in Bavaria, while injuries haven’t helped his case.
The Red Devils are looking to secure a Harry Maguire replacement, before sanctioning the Englishman’s move to West Ham United. Pavard now appears to be close to, or even at the top of that list.
It’s Christian Falk and SportBild with the latest update in the saga. He claims that the player ‘really wants’ to go to United this summer, after the club have made ‘initial contact’ with Bayern over the signing.
However, the club have insisted that Pavard is not for sale after their move to sign Kyle Walker was cancelled. As a result, the Frenchman is ‘upset’.

This has all the makings of a non-starter, though keeping Pavard at Bayern Munich, mainly if he’s unhappy, doesn’t feel like the wisest move to make.
Rarely anything good comes from a player unhappy in his current situation, while this may well be the time for United to strike, in order to force Bayern’s hand and sign him at a decent fee.
As things stand, it’s Bayern who hold all the cards and if they’re willing to take a risk on keeping Pavard, they simply do not have to cash in now. For United, it could potentially mean looking at other, more easier to obtain options.
No doubt it would be a blow for Erik ten Hag, who seems to really like the idea of Pavard’s versatility, with that right-back position in the team still somewhat up for grabs.
