Man United fans may have to continue waiting until they’ll see Rasmus Hojlund in action.
Rasmus Hojlund has been chosen to replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the main striker at this club. The Dane, signed from Atalanta this summer, arrived at Old Trafford injured. Obviously, that’s a less-than-ideal situation for all involved.
When you spent big money on a player, you’d like them to hit the ground running and get out there. However, the longer this goes on, the harder it’ll become for Hojlund as the pressure grows.
Now, the Manchester Evening News believe that debut ‘may de delayed’, with United fans to be made to wait to see the 20-year-old star in action. That delay means we may not see Hojlund out there until after the September international break.
The potential return date? Brighton. Obviously, they’re flying high right now and the Premier League schedule is notoriously unforgiving. There are certainly easier games to make your debut in.
It means Hojlund will not feature this weekend against Nottingham Forest. Nor will he be available when the Reds head to North London to take on Arsenal.
Then, it’s about building up match fitness. You’d expect Hojlund to make appearances off the bench for at least the first couple of weeks. Really, we may not see him fully fit until mid-October – which is two months into the season.
I always hate it when players start the season injured. You’re always playing catch up and with games coming thick and fast at that point, it does take its toll on the body.
Hopefully, Hojlund can keep working hard and get himself out there soon. We absolutely need him.
