West Ham United are confident about signing Harry Maguire this summer, following an earlier breakdown in talks.

Well, Football Insider have provided an update on that front. In their headline, they say the London club now ‘expect’ to sign the 30-year-old United star this summer.
David Moyes’ side are yet again ‘hopeful’ of signing their long-term target before the close of play this week. The Irons reignited talks with United, despite already signing another centre-half earlier in the window.
In an ideal world, this transfer will get done quickly. However, I’m not sure what has changed. Maguire initially turned down the interest from West Ham in order to fight for his place.
Perhaps he was trying to be slick, in an effort to seal a loan move, ensuring he still gets his full United wages, while also getting a transfer away. He may now realise that is not going to happen.
Maguire is at that stage in his career where he needs to be playing regularly and West Ham are a team who are looking strong right now. Why not move to the London club and prove your talent?
The question for United now turns to potential replacements and whether it’s too late to sign someone with the Maguire money…
