Man United are looking at making a shock move to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Manchester United are still looking a little light in midfield. The Old Trafford side have been pretty poor in that area of the field so far this season, with recruitment necessary before the close of play.
However, generating funds via player sales is proving tough. It means Erik ten Hag has been able to invest in midfield – and other positions…
Time is now running out. The panic is no doubt setting in behind the scenes.
Over the last 24 hours, a new name has been thrown into the mix; Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. It comes from The Telegraph. They state that United are ‘considering’ making a ‘surprise’ move to sign the 28-year-old midfielder this summer.
Apparently, United have been offered the chance to sign the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder before the close of play on Friday, with Ange Postecoglu ready to let the Dane leave White Hart Lane.
There’s no doubt that Hojbjerg would add some extra quality to midfield, though I’m not really sure his levels are enough to make a real difference. He’d also come with a hefty price tag, given he’d be transferring between Premier League sides.
I still do not see how United find the funds to bring anyone in right now, let alone a player who is right in the middle of his prime years.
Hojbjerg is someone who’d only play a rotational role at best. Is he better than Mason Mount? Casemiro? Bruno Fernandes? Absolutely not.
The name I’d still love to see United sign is Sofyan Amrabat. It seems as though he’s patiently waiting for a move to happen, though for some reason, the Reds’ interest in him seems to have cooled.
