Man United have come to an agreement in principle with Marc Cucurella.
Suddenly, Manchester United are desperate for a new left-back. Tyrell Malacia picked up an injury in pre-season. Luke Shaw then picked up what appears to be a serious problem about a week ago.
The Englishman’s injury is expected to keep him out for a little while, hence, Erik ten Hag has been scouring the market for a potential replacement. Several names have been linked. None more so than Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella.
The ex-Brighton player has a real point to prove as his time at Stamford Bridge hasn’t gone as planned. However, there’s still work to do on this front.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the transfer is moving in the right direction. According to the journalist, United have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ with the possible signing on personal terms. Apparently, the ‘green light’ has arrived from the player’s side.
The Red Devils are now exclusively negotiating with Cucurella in the left-back position, as they want to get this deal done as soon as possible.
Check out the Fabrizio Romano tweet here:
Cucurella has Premier League experience and would add some quality to the dressing room. The good thing is that this is a risk-free signing for United, with plenty of upside.
If Cucurella doesn’t work out, United can allow him to go back to Chelsea with no questions asked. If it does go as planned, there’s an excellent chance that the Spaniard could be identified as a permanent signing.
Ten Hag is a big fan of the Spaniard so I can see it working out and it could be a problem for Shaw in the long-term.
