Hannibal is ready to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place at Man United.
Manchester United have some big decisions to make in regard to keeping certain players around for the season. Erik ten Hag has shown a ruthlessness in that regard, sending out a message to the youngsters. They will not be handed opportunities easily. They’ll have to earn them.
One player who is knocking on the door is Hannibal. The young man has blown hot and cold since arriving from AS Monaco, showing flashes of his capabilities and skill.
However, this summer, Hannibal looked like he’d taken it up a notch. The loan move to Birmingham seems to have done him the world of good, both mentally and physically.
Once again, Hannibal is attracting loan interest aplenty. According to The Mirror, the likes of Sevilla, Anderlecht and several English clubs are keen.
However, after recent talks with the gaffer, the Tunisia international has other ideas.
The 20-year-old United starlet is now ‘planning to stay’ at Old Trafford and ‘fight for a place’ within the Reds team.
Ten Hag sees the midfielder as someone who can make a first-team impact this term, and as a result, he’s eager to see Hannibal stick around and develop at the club rather than heading elsewhere.
The verdict
There is no time like the present. Hannibal should be looking to take advantage of the injuries suffered by those players ahead of him in the pecking order. Why not give him a chance off the bench and see what he’s made of?
I think he’s more than ready to be utilised, even if it’s as a bench or rotational option at this stage in his career.
