Man United are looking into signing Sergio Reguilon on loan this summer.
Manchester United Football Club have many injury issues right now. From Kobbie Mainoo, to Mason Mount and Raphael Varane. Perhaps the worst issues are at the left-back position.
Tyrell Malacia missed the start of the campaign through injury. He’s still out. Luke Shaw recently joined him in the treatment room. The fear is that the Englishman will be out for an extended period.
As a result, Erik ten Hag is looking to bring in another left-back, most likely on loan due to limited funds being available. Marc Cucurella has been linked heavily, however, that move may not happen.
According to David Ornstein, there’s Cucurella complications after he played for Chelsea last night.
Now, United are ‘seriously considering’ 26-year-od left-back, Sergio Reguilon, as an option. Again, that’d be a loan signing, with United now to decide between Reguilon and Cucurella for both football and financial reasons.
Right now, United are suffering due to their bad business over many years. City being good sellers means they can continue to spend what they want, whereas United are penny-pinching.
It’s all well and good being among the most valuable clubs in the world. However, if you’re run poorly, there’s absolutely no benefit to it. United’s inability to sell means they cannot afford to sign a new centre-back, midfielder and left-back. Hence, short-term deals are being looked at.
Reguilon seems to be the frontrunner in the left-back position as things stand. The Spaniard has been hit and miss ever since arriving in the Premier League, though as a short-term option I genuinely believe he’d do a more than good enough job.
