Nottingham Forest have won the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Callum Hudson-Odoi for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £12 million. The midfielder, who has long been linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge, arrives on transfer deadline day signing a four-year contract at the City Ground and hoping to boost his chances of England international recognition once again.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, but the club opted not to take up their option of a permanent transfer. The Bundesliga side were quoted around £20 million to sign Hudson-Odoi earlier in the summer.
It is understood that Chelsea have requested that a sell on clause be included in the deal, and that amounts to around 25 percent of any future sale of Hudson-Odoi.
Mauricio Pochettino, the Chelsea manager, had been considering keeping the left winger, but ultimately decided the club no longer needed his services. Hudson-Odoi played 72 games for Chelsea, and scored four Premier League goals, and was at one point considered one of the best young players in the country.
