Sofyan Amrabat has signed for Man United on a season-long loan.
Manchester United’s deadline day was truly wild. Credit to the club for getting four signings done in a single day.
Erik ten Hag is no doubt feeling a little better about the shape of the squad, though he was made to wait for some additions due to FFP complications.
The Sofyan Amrabat links were super common a couple of months ago, though those rumours died down after the Rasmus Hojlund addition. Mostly due to money being tight.
Fair play to the man from Morocco, who was made to wait for this transfer. The midfielder kept a cool head and remained patient, eventually signing for the club of his ‘dreams’.
Upon signing for the club, Sofyan Amrabat said:
“It is a huge honour to become a Manchester United player. I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams.
“I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team.”
Honestly, this addition cannot be understated. Amrabat will bring some much-needed mobility and defensive ethic to our midfield. I genuinely believe it’ll ensure Casemiro rediscovers his best form, while adding some balance to the central areas.
United have looked far too easy to bypass in the midfield over the last few weeks and tomorrow’s game against Arsenal will probably be more of the same as Amrabat wasn’t registered in time. After the international break, though, I reckon we’re going to look like a much better outfit from front to back.
Everyone has seen *that* clip of Amrabat chasing down Kylian Mbappe in the World Cup – and successfully winning the ball with a monster tackle. I think we’re going to see a lot of that this season – and I can’t wait.
Welcome, Sofyan!
