Arsenal are to be without a key player in Thomas Partey for their game against Man United later today.
Manchester United Football Club have a real opportunity to put their early season struggles behind them this afternoon.
The Red Devils take on Arsenal at the Emirates – a stadium they have not won at for many, many years. Erik ten Hag will be aware of that fact. He will be looking to put things right.
Mikel Arteta’s side have also blown hot and cold to start this season, though they’re much further along in their process than we are. Hence, they’ll have to be considered favourites, particularly at home.
The fact that United’s squad has been decimated by injury also doesn’t fill us supporters with confidence. However, United have been given a lift over the last 24 hours, with Arsenal also set to be without a key performer today.
It’s The Sun with the story, who state that the Ghana national team (Partey’s country of birth), state that the midfielder has torn a hamstring. That is set to keep him out of today’s game, with the central player apparently out for up to three months.
United’s midfield has been struggling this season. Arsenal are now down one of their better players in that area of the field, so it could level the playing field somewhat.
That said, United are going to have to put in their best performance of the season to take any sort of positive result away from North London today. It’s going to be intriguing to see how the Red Devils get on…
We may see a couple of debuts given out, too, with both Rasmus Hojlund and Sergio Reguilon with the travelling squad.
