Man United are now in contract talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Manchester United Football Club are in a weird spot right now. Erik ten Hag’s side have won two from four while the injuries are mounting. It’s hard to gauge just where the Red Devils will fit into the Premier League pecking order.
We have to be honest, there have been very few positives to take away from the start to the season. However, one man who has looked good is Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Englishman’s turnaround under Ten Hag is somewhat remarkable. He was deemed surplus to requirements initially. Since, Wan-Bissaka has made that position in the team his own. He deserves all the credit in the world for that.
To complete the comeback story, the Daily Mail now believe Man United ‘have opened talks’ over a new contract with the 25-year-old.
Wan-Bissaka’s current deal expires next summer, with United now ‘eager’ to extend those terms as soon as possible.
It seems like something clicked with Wan-Bissaka during the winter period of last season. Since then, Diogo Dalot has found it tough to get back into the side.
The knock on the Englishman has always been his inability in the final third. However, he’s improving in that area of his game, too, picking up the match-winning assist in the season-opener against Wolves.
OTF’s verdict
We love a good comeback story. Wan-Bissaka fully deserves this new deal and I’m pleased that talks are now underway. The sooner it’s done, the better, as Wan-Bissaka can then get back to focusing solely on his football.
For now, I am enjoying watching Wan-Bissaka continue to work on his overall game. Age 25, he’s still relatively young for a defender so he will only improve over the next few years.
