Man United are hopeful of a Sofyan Amrabat debut against Brighton this weekend.
Manchester United’s transfer deadline day was hectic, to say the least. The Red Devils made four signings. Some of which forced due to injury. Others were necessary due to a lack of depth.
Perhaps the most exciting addition of the day was Sofyan Amrabat. The man from Morocco had been patiently waiting all summer to secure a Red Devils transfer. He’d be granted his wish in the eleventh hour.
However, our joy at the signing was short-lived after some Amrabat injury news surfaced. He’d miss out on international duty as a result of this problem, with his country taking precautionary measures.
Well, we now have good news on that front. It comes from The Telegraph (subscription required). They say that United now have ‘hope’ that the new signing will be able to make his Reds debut this weekend, despite those injury issues.
It is stated that Amrabat didn’t play for his country as a precaution and he’s had a full week of training at the Theatre of Dreams.
With Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo injured, coupled with Christian Eriksen showing he’s not as mobile as he once was, United needed that energetic midfielder who doesn’t mind defending and helping out Casemiro. Amrabat absolutely ticks that box.
Will Amrabat start this weekend?
I think there’s a real possibility he does play from the off. Brighton have one of the most energetic midfield areas in the country. If you do not match them in that aspect, it’s going to be a tough game.
Amrabat will absolutely add genuine quality to the team in that aspect, while he’s also underrated with the ball at feet.
