Sofyan Amrabat is set to miss the Man United vs Brighton game through injury.
Manchester United Football Club have been on a two-week break due to the international period, though our Red Devils come back with a bang. A home game against Brighton is sure to entertain, regardless of the final result.
For this match, United are expected to get some players back from injury. Namely, both Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are set to return. However, there has been some disappointing news delivered since.
United have been dealt a blow, as Sofyan Amrabat isn’t set to feature. According to Erik ten Hag, the player ‘will not be available’ for the Brighton game, with his debut now delayed. The good news? The injury isn’t thought to be long-term. Meaning we’re likely to see him sooner rather than later.
Check out what Erik ten Hag had to say on the Amrabat injury news here:
“Amrabat, he came back unfortunately with the injury, so he will not be available for tomorrow [Saturday], but I think, on the short notice [soon], yes. And I’m sure we will all get joy from them.” Ten Hag told club media.
When the training photos were released earlier today and Amrabat wasn’t in them, you initially panic. Word on the street is that he’s trained all week, so whether that information was false, or United just aren’t willing to risk him here, remains to be seen.
Amrabat is someone who has the potential to really make an impact on our midfield over the course of a long season. The sooner he’s out there, the better it’ll be as he can start to learn this system.
With the games now set to come thick and fast, over multiple competitions, having depth is so important. Amrabat’s versatility means he can either replace Casemiro in a deeper role, or Mason Mount/Christian Eriksen in the #8 position.
Get well soon, Sofyan!
