Man United were without Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen through illness for the Crystal Palace cup game.
Manchester United Football Club played their best game of the season so far against Crystal Palace in the cup last night. Erik ten Hag will no doubt have been delighted with the overall performance of his squad, particularly as so many changes were made to the line-up.
It was superb to see the likes of Facundo Pellistri, Alejandro Garnacho and Sofyan Amrabat out on the field and playing well.
After the game, the gaffer confirmed that a United duo were absent through illness; Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen.
The pair have been regular starters over the last couple of weeks, though were not involved here due to suffering with an ailment. Presumably, this is the same bug that Sergio Reguilon was dealing with, though he did fight through the illness to start against Burnley.
Erik ten Hag says both Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen missed the game through illness.

Sickness bugs going through the camp is never ideal. Let’s hope the club are now over the worst of it, with United now finally getting players back from injury. Suddenly, things are looking a little brighter. The squad is healthier while the fixtures feel like they’re easing up somewhat. Of course, there are no easy games at the highest level, but things look a little kinder on paper at least.
As for Eriksen and McTominay, they may well find it tough to break back into the starting line-up. Amrabat is looking good. Mount is back fit. Hannibal playing with real intent. It’ll be intriguing to see where they stack up in the pecking order.
