Sofyan Amrabat looked superb on his Man United debut, showcasing what he can offer this team.
Manchester United Football Club looked like their old selves against Crystal Palace last night. Erik ten Hag would no doubt have been pleased with the performance as well as the full-time result.
It was a much-changed starting line-up, with the gaffer looking to keep his squad fresh as we enter into the hectic portion of the schedule. The one man we were all keen to see was Sofyan Amrabat.
The man from Morocco, primarily brought in to play in central midfield, was stuck out in a left-back position, though he played everywhere all over the pitch in order to help his team secure a vital win.
The first thing to note was his insane energy. At one point, Amrabat was pressing the Crystal Palace left-back in the opposite corner of the pitch. He’d help win possession back as a result, too!
Beyond the energy and determination, Amrabat had himself an excellent game statistically. He’d have 92 touches, complete 96% of his passes and win five ground duels. On top of his 100% tackle success rate. The new United star shone under the Old Trafford floodlights last night.

It’s a crying shame that Amrabat joined the club injured. I genuinely believe that if he’d have been fit to play from the off, we could have secured positive results in some of our previous games. That’s just how vital having a player like that can be.
More than anything, it’s Amrabat’s passion for this club that shines through. He has a win at all costs mentality and he’s desperate to bring that success to the Theatre of Dreams this season.
You also have to factor in that he’s playing for a permanent transfer to the club. Right now it’s only a loan deal and Amrabat will be keen to turn that into a full-time position at the club he adores.
This was certainly a good start for him.
