Dan Gore made his Manchester United debut on his 19th birthday with us beating Crystal Palace 3-0 in the League Cup. He replaced Sofyan Amrabat for the final 30 minutes and put in an impressive display.
Having supported United all his life and joining our academy from Burnley’s when he was 13-years-old, it was understandably a special night for the teenager. He has spoken to MUTV about what it means to him to have his first game under his belt.
It tops the list of birthdays, it was truly a special moment. I don’t think words can describe that feeling, seeing the fans, it is everything you’ve dreamed of, coming true. It means everything [to make your debut], growing up as a United fan [along with] my whole family, it means a lot to them and they were all here supporting me.
I think being around world-class players, day in and day out, has really helped me improve my game a lot. You grow up watching these players, so to play with them… you watch them on TV winning the Champions League, it is actually surreal.
Gore has set his sights on continuing to impress Erik ten Hag so he can get more opportunities to represent his boyhood club.
That is the aim. But it happens in training. You have to work hard every day in training and then, hopefully, the opportunities come your way.
