Man United could begin contract talks with Hannibal soon, though the player is focused on playing right now.
Earlier this week we covered a claim from the Manchester Evening News, which stated Manchester United were keen on tying Hannibal down to a new long-term deal.
The midfielder has started the last couple of Red Devils games, playing well in both and looking like someone who certainly belongs in the first-team fold.
His energy, on-ball quality and desire to win were on full display. The Tunisia international certainly looks good enough to play his part this season…
Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided another update on Hannibal’s contract situation. He states that United ‘plan’ to offer a new contract to the emerging first-teamer, while talks ‘could start soon’.
Hannibal’s current deal expires next summer, though United have the option to extend that by a further year.
Hannibal himself is focused on playing his games at this moment, though he may be ‘open’ to discussing fresh terms later this year.

In terms of outside interest, Sevilla are keen. That alone tells you everything you need to know about his natural ability, with a top European side looking at bringing in the midfielder, despite limited playing time (though that looks like it is about to change).
The good news is United aren’t in a rush due to the fact that Hannibal is effectively tied down until 2025. Everyone involved in the situation has every reason to be relaxed right now, though it’s good to know that there’s an interested party in the event that Hannibal disappears back out of the mix over the next few months.
