Man United will compete with Man City for the January signing of Kaoru Mitoma.
Manchester United have some excellent attacking players on their books right now, though it’s clear their top talents are struggling. Be it a lack of confidence, lack of structure or just some bad form, the Reds need help.
Marcus Rashford is the prime example of the struggles. He scored thirty goals last season, though now looks like he couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo. Hence, it makes some sense to see United linked with a new winger…
It’s Fichajes with the claim, as they write that United are set to compete with their rivals, Manchester City for the January signature of 26-year-old winger, Kaoru Mitoma. Apparently, both Manchester clubs are keen on signing the man from Japan, who is playing some brilliant football right now.
Fichajes do not have the best reputation when it comes to transfer stories, so let’s get that out of the way right now. However, they’re right sometimes, hence, we’re covering their claim.
Mitoma would be a stunning signing, but is it one United would even consider making? I know Rashford is struggling right now, but there’s no guarantee Mitoma would displace the Englishman from the team…
Then you have to factor in what Mitoma wants. Can you honestly tell me he’d jump at the chance to move to Old Trafford right now? Brighton play way better football, are looking like they have a brighter future and he’s one of their talismans. Other than money, every other tick box goes in the way of the Seagulls.
In terms of transfer fee, Mitoma would be approaching that £100m mark, if not in excess of that figure. Do United even have that sort of cash available right now? I’m not so sure.
