Man United showing an interest in signing Real Betis attacker, Assane Diao.
Manchester United’s whole squad has been decimated by injury this season. Erik ten Hag has been dealing with some major problems to key first-teamers – particularly defensively. As things stand, the whole first-choice back four is sidelined.
Another area where the club have been struggling is right-wing. Jadon Sancho is currently being exiled from the first-team squad, while Antony has only just returned following a month-long absence due to some legal battles.
It makes sense, then, to see United looking to find some consistency in that area of the field, most likely in the form of a new signing.
Over the weekend, Fichajes linked United with a move to sign the little-known Assane Diao. Their story claims United are eyeing a move to sign the 18-year-old winger, who’d be a realistic transfer option for the Old Trafford club.
Despite playing very little first-team football, Diao is a talented footballer who is emerging as a player to keep an eye on in future.
He currently has a £26m (€30m) release clause in his contract, which seems a minimal amount for a player who has scored three goals in four matches after making his debut last month. That alone makes it easy to see why United would be keen on bringing him in.
However, at this point, United need a ready-made player. They need someone who can come in and contribute goals and assists from day one. I’m sure Diao is a fine talent who’ll go on to have a tremendous career. I’m just not sure he’s exactly what United need right now, particularly when the club already have talents like Amad, Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho on the books.
