Man United are open to a Scott McTominay sale, though they’re not in a rush to make a deal happen.
Manchester United’s summer transfer window was interesting. Erik ten Hag made some important signings, though I get the impression that the Old Trafford club would have preferred to move more players on.
Sadly, this is a rod United have made for their own back. Time and time again, the club have overpaid for those players who dip in and out of the team. Consistently giving big-money deals to the likes of Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial et al, made it impossible to sell these guys.
Another player who falls into that category is Scott McTominay. The midfielder scored twice in injury time against Brentford to earn the Reds a massive three points – but that was his first meaningful action in what feels like months.
There were discussions about the Scotland international’s future over the summer, though no deal away came to fruition.
Now, 90min.com have provided an update on the future of McTominay. They claim that United are ‘in no hurry’ to sell the 26-year-old fringe player, though they would consider a deal if the price is right.
McTominay’s form at international level has been insane over the last few breaks from domestic football, which is why he probably feels hard done by in regard to his lack of game time at club level. It’s also where interest in him from elsewhere stems from.
The player himself is keen to remain at the club, wanting to continue to prove his worth to Ten Hag, after United turned down bids of around £30m from West Ham over the summer.
Clearly, the Old Trafford side value McTominay highly, otherwise they would have cashed in on the midfielder when they had the chance.
