Man United have eyes on the in-form Crystal Palace defender, Marc Guehi.
Manchester United’s defence has been decimated by injury so far this season. Presently, the Red Devils are without all of their first-choice back four.
With Harry Maguire still not flavour of the month either and Jonny Evans now getting up there in age, there’s every chance that the Red Devils could look to bring in another centre-half.
Enter, Marc Guehi.
It’s the South London Press with the story. They state that United are ‘keeping tabs’ on the 23-year-old centre-back who currently plies his trade for Crystal Palace.
Apparently, United could make a summer move for the England international, who is a player they’re said to be ‘keen’ on signing.
Guehi has been fantastic for The Eagles ever since joining the London club, though he’s particularly impressed over the last twelve months.
Any deal to sign Guehi would surpass the club-record £50m fee received for Aaron Wan-Bissaka four years ago.
Guehi would bring some much-needed youth to this ageing Red Devils back line, while the Crystal Palace man would offer some consistency in the position as he’s always had a relatively clean bill of health.
As the article states, this would be a summer move. There’s no way the Old Trafford club could have afforded to spend this sort of money in the January transfer window, particularly with the Glazer ownership still up in the air.
If a move does happen, Guehi ticks all the boxes. He’d be an astute piece of business if the Reds could somehow pull it off, though I’d also assume United will face competition for his signature.
