Portugal boss Roberto Martinez has heaped the praise on Bruno Fernandes, who’d be ‘a dream’ for any coach.
Manchester United’s two-week hiatus may be a good thing in the long run. First and foremost, it’s chance for the injured players to get a little bit fitter, hopefully, leading to Erik ten Hag having extra players to work with.
It also allows those fringe players to find some form and perhaps force their way into the manager’s plans. Christian Eriksen is having himself an excellent international break, in particular. As is his midfield partner, Bruno Fernandes.
Bruno is probably the best-performing player in the whole EURO 2024 qualifying campaign right now, providing assists, adding goals and being an overall leader for the Portugal national team who have won all eight of their matches. He was recently included in a Team of the Round for another top outing.
Now, the United star has been labelled ‘a dream for a coach!’ by Portugal boss, Roberto Martinez. The midfielder was praised for his flexibility, balance and work ethic in particular.

“Bruno Fernandes is a dream for a coach! He needs training to understand the idea of the game and has a high level of execution. Technically he has a vision of the game that I think is of superlative quality and I really like his work. He’s adapted to many positions, he gives structure, he gives balance, he’s a key player for us.” Martinez told Record, via Sport Witness.
We’re just running out of positive things to say about Bruno. He’s among the best in the world at what he does and sometimes, United fans genuinely don’t appreciate what he brings to the table.
No doubt his insane form for his country will help his confidence levels at the club level. He has still been amongst United’s better players to start this season, but we all know he can take it up at least another notch or two.
In terms of goals and assists, there’s literally nobody out there with better value. It’s why he’s the perfect choice to captain this side. It’s why I fully believe he’s going to be the main man in the heart of our midfield for years to come.
You also have to tip your cap to his availability. Bruno is rarely missing through injury which is credit to his work ethic, durability and sheer desire to get himself out on that field.
