Man United are interested in signing Inter Milan left-back, Federico Dimarco.
Manchester United Football Club are having issues defensively at this point in time. It largely stems from injury, with the current first-choice back four all sidelined at present.
Erik ten Hag may look to address those problems by signing new players. The left-back area, in particular, is a cause for concern. Tyrell Malacia is yet to play this season, while Luke Shaw is another longer-term injury absence. Sergio Reguilon has been signed on a short-term loan deal, though whether he’s the permanent solution to the problem is another matter entirely.
According to Calciomercato.it United are looking at Federico Dimarco as a potential fix to the left-back spot.
According to the report, United are ‘interested’ in signing the 25-year-old full-back. The attack-minded Italian would cost a pretty penny, too, with Inter unwilling to enter negotiations for anything less than €50m (£44m).
More than anything, United need someone who can come in, stay fit and make a positive impact on a game-by-game basis. I love Shaw, but even he has blown hot and cold over the course of his Old Trafford career.
Dimarco may well be an upgrade on the current options we have at the club, though you’d imagine he’d need time to settle into his surroundings should a move come to fruition.
You’d also have to factor in the high-percentage chance that it’d mean a left-back would leave. Be it Shaw or Malacia, I cannot imagine they’ll be easy players to move on from – both from a footballing and sentimental point of view.
It’d also be dependent on Dimarco showing keenness on making the move to Manchester. He may not want to leave.
