Man United are set to welcome three players back to the first-team squad following injury.
Manchester United Football Club need another win this weekend, as Erik ten Hag’s side are looking to build some positive momentum. No doubt the manner of the victory over Brentford will have been a confidence-booster for the whole dressing room.
The two-week international break was supposed to be period where United got players back from injury. Unfortunately, the situation has gone the other way. Casemiro will miss this one after picking up a problem with Brazil. There was also doubts about the fitness of Sofyan Amrabat. However, he has been passed fit.
Amrabat is not the only one who’ll make an injury recovery in time for the Sheffield United game, either, with United given a triple boost as both Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon are set to be fit, too.
The gaffer confirmed the news in the first part of his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against The Blades on Saturday evening.
Check out what Ten Hag had to say in full here:
“Rapha Varane is back, so I think, especially in the backline, I’m very happy with Rapha back and Sergio back,” Ten Hag told official club media.
“That’s very good news, of course. It’s disappointing that Casemiro picked up an injury but it’s not too bad.
“I’m sure and confident he will be back for the next games, so very short notice. The good thing is also that Sofyan Amrabat is available.”
Honestly, this is massive. The fact that Casemiro’s problem isn’t thought to be long term is another big plus. The Brazil international is a massive part of the way this team plays.
However, for one game, I’d like to think that Amrabat can do a stand-in job. This is exactly why the man from Morocco was brought in and I’m excited to see what he can do when he’s given the opportunity to fulfil that role.
As for Reguilon being back, he’s the only fit left-back at the club so the Spaniard is an absolute certainty to start here. I’ve been impressed with what he’s offered in his few appearances so far, so I’m intrigued to see if he can keep up those levels in a massive away game.
Varane is another whose importance cannot be understated. United look far more organised with the Frenchman in the team and I genuinely don’t think we realise how valuable he is.
Let’s hope all these guys play, allowing United to secure a huge result.
