Amad Diallo is seemingly closing in on his comeback from injury, with the winger now back in training.
One large part about Manchester United’s poor start to the season is due to injuries. Without wanting to give Erik ten Hag a pass for the poor performances this term, it’s a genuine reason why the club is struggling.
Since pre-season, the treatment table woes have been evident. Perhaps the position that has been most hard-hit by injury and off-field issues is right-wing. United have been getting little-to-no production from that position, with Antony and Facundo Pellistri mostly deployed out there. Obviously, Jadon Sancho is fit but unavailable.
Another possible option is Amad. He’d looked decent to start the pre-season, following a superb loan spell at Sunderland which seemed to instil newfound confidence and belief. However, the Ivory Coast international would succumb to the injury bug.
Not too long ago, we covered a claim which suggested he was close to returning. Well, that information turned out to be correct, as United are boosted by the return to training of Amad after three months out injured.

First and foremost, United need to give Amad time to build up to full fitness before they even consider playing him. The last thing the club needs is to lose the winger for an even longer period because they rushed him back too quickly.
Secondly, it’s about not placing too much pressure on his shoulders. United cannot expect Amad to come in and set the world alight, even though he has looked good while away with Sunderland. It’s an entirely different kettle of fish.
When he is back, though, Amad does deserve a chance. If we’re being brutally honest, he cannot do any worse than Antony and quite frankly, it could give the whole club a lift if a young kid can come in and start to make a few things happen.
