Man United continue to be linked with a move to sign Sacha Boey.
Manchester United were linked with a move to sign Sacha Boey not too long ago, after the French defender played superbly against the Red Devils in the Champions League.
The right-back area for United continues to offer up a real mixed bag. At this point, I have personally given up on Diogo Dalot who just does not look up to standard. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is decent, though whether he’s the right stylistic fit remains to be seen…
Now RMC Sport, per Sport Witness, have provided another update on a potential Reds move for Boey. They state that United have ‘made enquiries’ over signing the 23-year-old defender. It’s unclear if those talks were with the player’s entourage, or his current club Galatasaray.
The player is currently in contract limbo. Boey has received an offer to renew with the Turkish Super Lig side, though the two parties have not reached an agreement and ‘things are stuck’ on that front.
Boey’s current deal expires in 2025. No doubt the Turkish side would hope to reach an agreement with him sooner rather than later, as if the situation remains the same next summer, the right-back could be available in a cut-price deal.
At this stage, I’d say that United’s interest in Boey is 100% genuine. There wouldn’t be so many reputable sources picking up on the claims if that wasn’t the case.
Again, it just lets us know that Ten Hag is not completely sold with his right-back options. When he joined, he wasn’t delighted at the fact he’d be working with Wan-Bissaka and although the Englishman has improved, you get the impression he’s not the long-term solution to Ten Hag’s plans.
