Man United have named a 23-man party for the Copenhagen away Champions League game on Wednesday night.
Manchester United lost their opening two Champions League games. The first was not a surprise. Succumbing to defeat at home to Galatasaray was a major upset, though. It has left Erik ten Hag’s side with plenty of work to do…
The double-header against FC Copenhagen is now pivotal. The home game was a tight affair, in which United narrowly eeked out all three points. The away game takes place tomorrow. Nothing less than another three points will suffice.
The Old Trafford side will be hoping to put in a better display, in order to instil some confidence back into a dressing room that is desperate for a little help in that regard.
Word on the street is that Marcus Rashford is looking fit to play some part following his return to training. Victor Lindelof was also spotted in that session. Now, we’ve been given some official squad news, with Ten Hag naming a 23-strong travelling party – including starlet Omari Forson, who has not been seen since his excellent pre-season.
Check out the squad in full here (via ManUtd.com):
Goalkeepers: Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton.
Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Sergio Reguilon, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Midfielders: Sofyan Amrabat, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, Hannibal, Scott McTominay, Mason Mount.
Forwards: Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Omari Forson, Rasmus Hojlund, Anthony Martial, Facundo Pellistri, Marcus Rashford.
Let’s start with Forson, who adds an extra option up front. United have been pretty diabolical in the final third and the club needs all the help it can get in that aspect. Forson’s directness could prove to be a valuable asset.
There are places in the squad for both the aforementioned Rashford and Lindelof, who have seemingly recovered from a minor injury and illness respectively to be included here.
Raphael Varane is in the squad and this could be an opportunity to get him some first-team minutes, while Hannibal is another who’ll be hoping for a chance.
Looking at the squad, it still needs work. I know injuries are decimating some areas of the field, though Ten Hag will need further money, preferably in the January transfer window, to continue moulding this squad into one that fits his image.
