Man United are now waiting to find out the severity of injuries to both Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen…
Every other article on this website seems to be injury-related at present. Erik ten Hag has a valid excuse on that front right now, with Manchester United players dropping like flies. Whether it’s sheer bad luck, or training being too intense, remains to be seen…
The problems just aren’t letting up at the moment. With each passing game, another player or two goes down. Yesterday was the same old story. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was missing through illness, while during the match, two more faces went down with injuries.
This time around, it was the turn of the Dane’s to suffer blows. First, Christian Eriksen went off in the first half with a problem. Then, as the game was winding down, Rasmus Hojlund picked up an issue.
United are now sweating on the fitness of the first-team duo, who are doubtful to play for their country, Denmark, during the upcoming international break. No doubt we’ll hear more concrete information on the severity of their respective issues over the next 24 hours.
Check out what Erik ten Hag had to say on the Danish duo here:
“In this moment, I can’t tell anything about it because I don’t know,” Ten Hag said at his press conference, when asked about Hojlund, per ManUtd.com. “We do an assessment and we have to wait 24 hours for the conclusion. So we’ll give the medical team 24 hours to see what the problem is, if there is a problem.
“You don’t want to miss any player. There’s also Christian Eriksen. That is our season at this moment – we have so many injuries. But, therefore, you have a squad. We have talked about it many times. But, of course, the routine levels are dropping down, the routine levels in the team, in the way of playing. But, hopefully, players are coming back and those new injuries are not too bad.”
It’s just so frustrating at this point. Hojlund, in particular, would be a major loss. He looked to be grasping his hamstring minutes before succumbing to the issue, having to go off the field. It just wasn’t the striker’s day yesterday, as he searches for his first Premier League goal. Hojlund was just beginning to work his way to full fitness after missing the start of the season with a back issue, too…
Losing him for any prolonged period of time would leave Anthony Martial as the only fit striker. We’ve seen that story play out before. It never ends well.
Eriksen has also been a regular starter over the last few matches. United are already struggling in that area of the field with Casemiro out injured, while both Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat struggle for any sort of consistency. The Dane offers a calmness and experience. Although he may not be the most mobile anymore, he does have a positive impact on the side.
Hopefully, the fortnight in between United games is ample time to get these guys back fit, along with potentially a couple of other players who are looking to get off the treatment table.
