Alejandro Garnacho was not selected for Argentina duty due to a lack of minutes and form.
Manchester United are now in the midst of their two-week hiatus due to international football. Erik ten Hag will probably view this as a welcome break, with time to get some players back from injury – which is never a bad thing given our current situation…
Over the last few international periods, this has been a time for some players to find some form while away with their country.
One player we recently learned would not be travelling to play for his international side is Alejandro Garnacho. The winger was snubbed of a call-up, despite being in the last few national team squads.
Well, now we know why. The United star has not been called up due to a ‘form issue’, Argentina boss Scalona has confirmed. Apparently, he hasn’t played enough minutes, though he did reiterate Garnacho is ‘on our radar’, while he’ll still be under consideration when moving forward.
Check out what the Argentina manager had to say in full here:
“Ale’s non-call up is due to a form issue. During the last calls, he did not have minutes and we have to think about human aspect as well too. He’s on our radar and will be part of our plans”. Scaloni told media, including Fabrizio Romano.
Garnacho loves representing his country and no doubt this will be a minor blow to the young man. However, it could mean boosted desire and drive – which is never a bad thing.
It just hasn’t quite clicked for the young winger at United so far this term, while he’s absolutely not alone in that regard. The whole squad is struggling for form and consistency at this stage and it’d be unfair to place the blame at Garnacho’s door.
I guess we all forget just how young Garnacho is. He’s still a baby in a football sense and he will show inconsistency within his game. I don’t doubt his natural talent and ability, while he will get back to his best sooner rather than later.
