Marcus Rashford injury fears have been allayed by Gareth Southgate, who spoke on the situation after England’s 2-0 win over Malta.
Manchester United just cannot escape their injury curse at the moment. You’d think that Erik ten Hag would have been somewhat pleased with the timing of the international break, in order for the club to get some players back from injury. Sadly, it appears the opposite is happening…
Andre Onana went down with an apparent adductor problem while playing for Cameroon. He had to be subbed off. He was not the only one who’d suffer an issue, though.
Marcus Rashford was involved in a collision with his own player while donning an England jersey on Friday evening. The Englishman just cannot catch a break at the moment and he’d have to be subbed off due to the knock.
After the game, England manager Gareth Southgate provided an update on the United star’s injury issue, allaying our fears that serious damage was done, by suggesting that he is ‘probably okay’.

‘I think he [Rashford] is probably okay.’
‘We just thought given the nature of the collision and it was a chance to get Cole in to the game. I haven’t assessed too much but I think he was okay when he came off.’ Southgate told the media, per The Metro.
England duty was supposed to be a time for Rashford to go out there and find some form. He’s typically played well for the Three Lions, even when struggling at club level. Sadly, he just couldn’t get anything going last night. Then, he’d have to be subbed off with the aforementioned injury.
As a result, it probably means Rashy won’t play for England in their second game of this international break against Macedonia, which is less than ideal. He’s going to come back to United in the same frame of mind that he had when he left…
The good news is that the problem isn’t serious and he will likely be fit and available to take on Everton in United’s next Premier League game this coming weekend.
