There has been some good news on the injury front (finally!) for Man United, with the latest Andre Onana injury update seemingly a positive one.
The story of Manchester United’s season has been injuries. There can be no doubt that Erik ten Hag’s side are struggling due to the sheer number of players they’ve been without. It also disrupts the flow and consistency within the starting line-up. It’s not an excuse when it’s factual information.
Over the weekend, we were left pretty worried when both Marcus Rashford and Andre Onana went down with problems while playing for their respective countries. The latter, in particular, felt like it could be particularly problematic.
Well, those fears have been allayed, with an encouraging injury update provided on the key player by Fabrizio Romano. The early indications are ‘optimistic’ ahead of the Everton game this weekend, with Romano told that Onana is ‘expected to be fit’ for the upcoming games with the Red Devils.

This is great news. We talk about consistency within the starting line-up and it all begins with the goalkeeper. Onana being fit is massive for our hopes, against an Everton side who are going to be right up for it following their points deduction.
Onana has looked far more confident in recent weeks, making some excellent saves to keep his side in games, while his ability to play out from the back is there for all to see.
I was somewhat looking forward to seeing how Altay Bayindir was going to get on as the Reds’ starting goalkeeper, though it looks like the man from Turkey will have to remain patient for his chance. He will get it soon, mind, with the African Cup of Nations now just around the corner.
