Kobbie Mainoo is in line for his first ever Premier League start for Man United, as the Reds take on Everton later today.
Manchester United have now been on a two week hiatus. The Old Trafford side were expected to welcome some players back during the international break, though instead, they’ve just lost a few more faces. Most recently, Mason Mount.
Erik ten Hag’s team is suddenly looking super light in midfield, with both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen also sidelined for the foreseeable.
Everton will be bang up for this game this afternoon after their recent point deduction, so we’re going to need that fight and hunger. Well, United could have a secret weapon in that regard; Kobbie Mainoo.
@AcademyScoop believe that the United starlet is now in line for his first ever Premier League start vs Everton today, amid the aforementioned injury crisis.

Mainoo himself has only just returned from injury. I would suggest that if he hadn’t missed the first few months of the season, he’d have already established himself as a first-team regular at the Theatre of Dreams. That’s just how insanely talented this young man is.
After being back in training for multiple weeks, while playing for the U21s on a few occasions, Mainoo is now in a decent place to make his comeback. I’m sure we’d have all preferred to see him built up and play minutes off the bench first, but the situation requires him to start. No doubt he’s telling the gaffer he’s ready to do just that and prove his worth.
I honestly believe he’s a game-changer. It all starts today for Kobbie Mainoo.
