A Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘Welcome to Manchester’ banner has popped up near Old Trafford.
Manchester United Football Club have been in potential takeover talks for many months now, as the Glazers look to at least partially cash in on their shares.
As more time as passed, it’s looking increasingly likely that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will win the rights to own some of the club – starting at 25% and (hopefully) slowly increasing as time goes on.
The Failsworth-born businessman will have control of footballing operations, bringing in some of his INEOS team to help with the day-to-day running of the Old Trafford side.
Now, a Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘welcome to Manchester’ banner has appeared near Old Trafford, in the same spirit as similar posters over years gone by.

I absolutely love stuff like this. All it does is leave supporters even more excited about the fact that the Glazer regime may be slowly winding down to a conclusion. Yes, it’s looking like they’ll remain in control for now, but it does feel like the beginning of the end for them.
All it shows is that fan power does work. Credit to everyone who has been involved in any protests, fan forums or anything of the like. Although it has taken plenty of time and patience, it is working.
As for Sir Jim, I genuinely believe his knowledge in the business world will help this side move forward. It’s already clear he’d like to move on from some overpaid, underperforming players, in order to restore some balance in the ranks, before building a squad that is capable of challenging for major honours.
His Nice side are doing well in Ligue 1 right now. Hopefully, that’s a good indicator of what he can do with one of the biggest clubs ides on the planet.
