Man United remain interested in Serhou Guirassy, but they will face pretty stiff competition.
It goes without saying that Manchester United’s season has not gotten off to the best of starts. Erik ten Hag is coming under increasing pressure, some of it is certainly deserved.
However, he can also lay the blame at the powers that be above him, while injuries also haven’t helped the situation. Some players aren’t performing up to standard, Anthony Martial included. The Frenchman was involved in a very public spat with the gaffer during the 1-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday evening.
It does feel like only a matter of time before the ex-AS Monaco man is out of the exit door for good – possibly as early as this January.
His minutes would need replacing. You’d like to think that Ten Hag will go out there and find an experienced goalscorer who can help ease the burden on Rasmus Hojlund’s shoulders. Enter, Serhou Guirassy.
United were linked with the Stuttgart forward last week and yet again, the man from Guinea is being mentioned in the same breath as a potential Old Trafford switch.
It’s Christian Falk with the latest information. He states that United are ‘still interested’ in signing the 27-year-old forward. However, they now face stiff competition from Newcastle United, as their interest is becoming more and more ‘concrete’.
Check out Christian Falk’s tweet on the latest news here:
The interest of Newcastle @NUFC in Serhou Guirassy (27) @VfB become more and more concrete. Manager Eddie Howe has the striker on his shortlist. @ManUtd is also still interested https://t.co/8JI1KUi59X

Guirassy is enjoying himself over in Germany right now, while his 12 goals in 17 games across all competitions is an excellent return. United could absolutely do with those goals.
My issue here is that United have struggled when it comes to signing Bundesliga players. Their style just never seems to translate well to Premier League football and I wonder whether this could be another swing and a miss.
I’d back the manager if this deal does happen, though I also do not see Stuttgart wanting to lose one of their key players in the mid-season window.
