Donny van de Beek has offered himself to FC Barcelona, as he looks to end his Man United woes.
Manchester United’s squad is still in need of major overhaul. Erik ten Hag is doing his best to clear out some dead wood, though there’s still much work ahead for the Dutchman in that regard.
In an ideal world, the likes of Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek (yes, he’s still here!) will all be gone over the next six months or so.
Now, Catalan media outlet Sport has provided the latest on the future of the Dutch midfielder, who is completely out of the fold at Old Trafford.
According to their information, the United player seemingly ‘offers himself’ to European giant, FC Barcelona, amid injury problems for their young starlet, Gavi.
It’s stated that the 26-year-old Van de Beek is now ‘crazy’ about leaving the Reds, after several seasons ‘practically ostracized’.
It has been a disastrous three years for Van de Beek at the Theatre of Dreams, while many thought Ten Hag, with whom the midfielder worked with at Ajax, was going to get the absolute best out of the player. That has not happened.
Confidence is super low for Van de Beek at this stage and now it’s too far gone for him here in Manchester. A move away is the only option and the sooner it happens, the better it’d be for all involved.
The problem? I think Van de Beek is probably setting the bar slightly too high. I’d be super surprised if Barcelona make a move to bring in the Dutchman on a permanent deal. There’s a slight chance a loan move happens, but even then, I have my doubts about the Nou Camp side making a move for the underperforming player.
